About online counselling
Meeting online is different from meeting face-to-face, but it is still possible to create the same warm, safe space and the same depth of therapeutic relationship.
Research now shows that online counselling can be just as effective as face-to-face work.
Many people prefer meeting online because of difficulties with anxiety, time or money.
It is important that you have somewhere private, quiet and comfortable, where you feel safe for your session. It’s worth making sure your phone is off and out of sight so that you don’t get any interruptions.
If possible try to make sure you have a few minutes break before your session from what you have been doing before.
At the end of the session I will bring you back to the “now”, but it is also worth thinking about anything you might need. You are straight back into your “real life” without the transition of travelling back from a face-to-face session
We will talk about all of these aspects and, as always, if you have any concerns or questions, please just ask.
How does it work?
Zoom is viewed as the secure and easy to use online platform for counselling.
You can use it on your smartphone, laptop or tablet.
You can download the Zoom ap at zoom.us/download, but you can also just join a session on your web browser using the link I send.
I will email you your own unique link to your session each week, usually the day before.
For added security, I use the waiting room facility which means you enter a virtual waiting room. I let you into the session and then lock it.
If you have any questions about any of this, then please contact me.
